Introducing the Airplane Dress...
– Wed, Sep 14, 2016 at 12:30:49 PM
Sometimes a dress is more than just a dress. It can tell the story of the past, and inspire the future.
Read more about the female engineers and pilots who inspired the Airplane Dress on our blog.
These women shaped the history of flight. How will YOU shape it's future?
Just a quick update to introduce the Firefly Collection. Celebrate summer with these adorable prints that light up at night.
You told us that girls need more glow in the dark - so we got creative!
Dresses and leggings are available in pink or gray. T-shirts featuring fireflies in and around an open jar are available in raspberry or aqua. Fireflies on all garments glow in the dark.
Wishing you a fun summer full of adventure, nature, and science!
More soon!

– Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at 03:23:27 PM
It’s been a busy year so far, and we are excited that our new Spring/Summer collections arrive this week!! We also have news about two buddingSTEM-related trips to the White House, and our friends and buddingSTEM models, Rebecca and Kimberly, are nominated for GeekWire’s Geek of the Year award!
New Spring Collections
Beetles and Frogs are arriving this week!! Because you were the first buddingSTEM supporters who helped launch our company, we want to offer you a 20% discount on new items – or apply it to sizing up the original items your girls loved!
You will receive an email from us with a 20% discount code shortly after this update posts. Happy shopping – we hope you love the new collections as much as we do!!
We’ll have new photos of the Beetles and Frogs posted on our website soon, but rest assured that it is the same high quality fabric and stitching as our previous collections.
And, when your new Spring items arrive, we’d love to see and share photos of your kiddos in their new STEMwear!
Two Trips to the White House
We were honored to attend a conference on breaking gender stereotypes in children’s media and toys held at the White House. We joined about 100 other businesses, bloggers, researchers, and organizations for the one-day event sponsored by the White House, the U.S. Department of Education, and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication.
It was an amazing day that supported what all of you already knew – that girls need options that validate their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math.
There was plenty of discussion about how stereotypes play into the options that kids imagine for themselves. One of our favorite quotes of the day was from a professor in the Annenberg School who said, “Girls have always been exceptional, we just haven’t always shown them as exceptional” through images and toys/clothes offered to girls. It was an amazing conference, and we’ll be writing more about it on our blog soon!
Even more exciting than our trip to the White House was this:
buddingSTEM nominated our friends Rebecca and Kimberly for the White House Science Fair. We wrote about their Loki Lego Launcher on our blog last fall, and Rebecca and Kimberly even modeled in our photo shoot at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. We thought their project would make a great addition to the White House Science Fair – and we were thrilled when the White House agreed!
So the week after we were in D.C., Rebecca and Kimberly not only showcased the Loki Lego Launcher at the White House Science Fair, but also were selected to present their project to President Obama. The President loved their story about trekking into a cow field to find the Loki Lego Launcher after it landed! And the White House posted a photo of Rebecca, Kimberly, and President Obama with the Loki Lego Launcher on its Instagram page later that day:
After all their adventures with the Loki Lego Launcher, there’s still more...we found out last week that Rebecca and Kimberly are nominated for GeekWire’s Geek of the Year award!
As the only women nominated for this award last year, we were also heartened to see several women included among the 2016 nominees. Please click here to vote for Rebecca and Kimberly. We look forward to cheering them on at this great event!!
Thanks for your ongoing support of buddingSTEM!! We look forward to being in touch with more exciting updates in the near future!

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we launched our Kickstarter campaign!! One year later, we are just about ready to release four new Spring/Summer collections and are continuing to grow – our gratitude for your support continues!
March Madness
We’re celebrating our Kickstarter anniversary with a March Madness sale – all dresses, leggings, and t-shirts are 30% off. Please help spread the word to your friends and family through social media!
We need to make some room in our warehouse for our new Spring/Summer collections!!
Spring/Summer Designs
Excitement levels are high. We can’t wait to share our four new Spring/Summer collections with you!
First up: Beetles. Dresses, t-shirts, and leggings in two colors are in production now, and we’ll put up a pre-order page in the next couple weeks – watch for another update when pre-order is live!
Here's a sneak peak:
STEM Project: Tornado in a Bottle
Check out our latest blog post and have fun with even your youngest scientist making a tornado in a bottle with common household items. We featured this project at a recent science party we held in conjunction with a local children's boutique, and it was a big hit with kids of all ages!
2016 Women of the Year
Finally, some fun news: we were honored to be recognized on International Women’s Day (March 8th) as 2016 Women of the Year by the Center for Women & Democracy. The awards ceremony was held at the Washington Governor’s Mansion, and we were so happy to be joined by several women who have been super supportive since buddingSTEM’s beginning, including our moms. It was fun to say a quick hello to Washington's Governor and First Lady as well!
Thank you for your continued support – year one has been amazing and we can’t wait to see what year two brings!!
