Latest Updates from Our Project:

Ever wondered how t-shirts are screened? Here’s a quick demo!
almost 9 years ago – Sun, May 31, 2015 at 11:14:11 PM

Thanks to our screen printer in Seattle, t-shirt production is finished! Although we’ve never screen printed before, Jennifer received a quick lesson in screen printing technique when she stopped by the print shop last weekend.

Take a quick look in photos at the screen printing process...

Ink is loaded onto the screen:

The ink is 'flooded' across the entire image area. Pulling the squeegee while applying firm pressure and maintaining a sharp angle pushes the ink through the screen, transferring the image onto the shirt:

The screen is lifted up and the t-shirt is carefully pulled up from the shirt platen:

The shirt is then loaded onto the dryer to cure the ink:

Once the shirt comes out of the dryer it is ready to go:

T-shirts and infant bodysuits are being packed this weekend, and will ship early next week:

A reminder that if your reward includes leggings or a dress, your complete order will ship when the leggings/dresses are ready later this summer. Canvas totes are still expected to ship by mid-June.

If you ordered a t-shirt or infant bodysuit, watch your mailbox!!

Ribbon has shipped -- we hope you are this excited when you receive it!

What did we do this weekend? Ribbon fulfillment!

Over the weekend, our Apatosaurus ribbon was cut, wrapped, packed -- and it was mailed yesterday!

Our $15 Kickstarter backers will receive their one yard of dinosaur ribbon soon...and we hope they are this excited:

This 26 second video was sent by one of our backers and is shared with permission (we sent one early test case of ribbon). Her little sister is crying in the background because she wants ribbon, too! Thankfully we sent two pieces! :)

Look for another update on our t-shirt printing process later this week!

A Fun Announcement - And Item Delivery Update
about 9 years ago – Fri, May 15, 2015 at 02:27:43 PM

Ribbon has Arrived!

Our Apatosaurus ribbon arrived this week! It looks great, and we are eager to send it out the door to our $15 level backers. For those of you who pledged at higher levels, the ribbon will arrive with your complete order later this summer.

 Item Delivery Update

For those of you who ordered canvas lunch totes, we were expecting to ship these by the end of May. However, the high-quality tote bags are on back-order, so there will be a bit of a delay (our preference deliver on the high-quality you expect, even if it means waiting a couple weeks!). We will do our best to rush these with our screen printer as soon as we receive them, and will aim to have them out the door to you by mid-June.

For those of you who ordered t-shirts, these are on their way to our screen printer and should be screen printed and in the mail by the end of May.

The leggings and t-shirt dresses are being manufactured in Los Angeles, and our manufacturer is working closely with us to stay on track for a late July delivery. More updates to come on our fabric printing process...stay tuned!!

If your order includes multiple items (e.g., leggings, t-shirt, and ribbon), our plan is to send out your complete order once we have all items in hand.

If you missed filling out the survey on BackerKit, we still want to fulfill your order! Please contact us at info@buddingSTEM if this is the case, and we will personally take your order.

Thanks for all the ongoing support!! We are excited to deliver your rewards over the next couple months!

We WON!!!
about 9 years ago – Wed, May 13, 2015 at 04:03:37 PM

Kickstarter supporters,

We are so excited to share with you that we won GeekWire’s Geek of the Year award last night!!

This is such an incredible honor, and an amazing experience. We gave you all a shout out in our acceptance speech -- we would not have received this award without your support during our Kickstarter campaign and without your support in the online voting. Thank you so very much.

We’ll have a couple fun announcements next week, but for now, we are going to savor this moment.

Thank you for your ongoing support!!
